Stephen Morton, aka Mortysalt, is a Nashville-based photographer, director, and 16-year veteran of the visual effects industry. As a digital compositor he has contributed to a multitude of high profile film, TV, and commercial projects.
Stephen studied architecture at the University of Florida, graduating in 2008. In the fall of that same year he booked his breakthrough gig as an editor and consultant for the highly-acclaimed architectural visualization house Vyonyx in London, UK.
He spent the next decade cutting his teeth as a visual effects artist - six years as a generalist with the visual effects and design studio Cantina Creative in Los Angeles - and the remainder freelancing for commercial, TV, and film shops throughout LA. This culminated with an in-house compositing position on Netflix’s “Stranger Things 3” in the spring of 2019.
Stephen continues to freelance from his home studio just west of Nashville, Tennessee. Most recently he took an in-house position with old friends at Cantina Creative on MGM/Amazon’s “Voltron.”
Between VFX gigs, Stephen directs video and still photography shoots for various musicians and small businesses in Nashville.
Stephen hails originally from Forest Hill, Maryland. He currently resides in Pegram, Tennessee.
